Chapter 10: The Red Carpet

Television news studio as seen through a TV screen.
Two news anchors, one male and one female, sit next to each other behind a news desk. The words “All Breaking News All The Time!” run diagonally across the front of the desk in exciting italic letters.
An image on the wall-sized screen behind the anchors artistically combines the Springfield, Missouri, convention center with a picture of the galaxy. A caption reads “Heavenly Days!”
The male anchor, John Vernon, wears a beautifully tailored suit with an American flag lapel pin. His razor-cut brown hair shows a dignified and reassuring hint of gray at the temples.
The female anchor, Marsha Wayne, wears a pastel jacket, also with an American flag pin. Her stylish blonde hair conveys substance mingled with accessibility.
VOICE
JOHN: Well, Marsha, this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for!
MARSHA: That’s right, John. It’s time for the twenty-third annual Heavenly Days banquet, the premier event on Springfield’s celebrity calendar.
JOHN: That’s right, Marsha. In just a few moments the gods will arrive, and that means it’s time for our Exclusive Breaking News Red Carpet Coverage!
VISUAL
The scene behind the anchors shifts to a circle drive lined with limousines. The camera pans from the limousines along a red carpet leading to the entry of a banquet hall. White lights twinkling like stars surround the entryway. Above the lights, a sign reads “Heavenly Days.” The words “Exclusive Breaking News Red Carpet Coverage!” crawl across the screen.
VOICE
MARSHA: That’s right, John. And Breaking News reporter Tiffany Clermont is on the scene. What’s the atmosphere there now, Tiffany? I imagine it’s pretty exciting!
VISUAL
Reporter Tiffany Clermont stands in a roped-off interview area beside the red carpet. She wears a stylish little black dress and holds a microphone in one hand. Behind her, a god in the form of a human male with a hawk’s head strides along the red carpet. He wears a tuxedo.
